Frequently Asked Questions

Four things people ask us most often. There are more on our FAQ page.

Do I need a diagnosis or a referral to get started?

No. You can contact us directly and we will talk through what you are after. Some funding pathways, Medicare among them, do require a GP referral, and we will tell you if that applies to you.

Which services can I use my NDIS funding for?

That depends on your plan and how it is managed. We work with self-managed, plan-managed and agency-managed participants. NDIS is one of several funding pathways we work with, and not every service we offer is NDIS funded, so it is worth checking with us first.

Do you see adults, or is this a children's service?

Both. We work with children, teenagers, adults and older Australians, and several of our clinicians work across age groups. Adults use our assessment, counselling and disability support services as often as families with young children do.

How long does an assessment take?

It depends on the type. Most involve an intake conversation, one or more sessions with the person being assessed, information from people who know them well such as a parent or teacher, and then a written report. We give you a timeframe for your specific assessment before you book.

Can you come to us?

For some services, yes. Home care is delivered at home by definition, and several therapy and disability supports can be provided at home, at school or in the community. Ask us what is possible in your area.

What happens at the first appointment?

Mostly listening. We ask what has brought you in, what you have already tried, and what you would like to be different. By the end you should have a clear idea of what we would suggest, what it involves and what it costs.

Here for you

Support that stays with you as your needs change, not just at the start.

We honour the diverse communities such as the LGBTQ of which we are a part and we celebrate the extraordinary diversity of people that each represent.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands. We pay respect to Elders, past and present and acknowledge the ongoing connection that Aboriginal people have to this land and recognise Aboriginal people as the original custodians of this land.

Aboriginal peoples of the Kulin Nations are the Traditional Custodians of the lands now named City of Greater Dandenong. Those who live, work and contribute to the municipality walk in the footsteps of the Bunurong/Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Peoples, and are enriched by Australia’s First Peoples experiences, cultures, histories and knowledge.
